Bou (Mohamed Amine Bouguenna), born 16 November 1996 in Algeria, is an Algerian-British drum and bass producer and DJ based in Manchester, United Kingdom. Having fled Algeria at age five during the Algerian Civil War, Bouguenna settled in Manchester where he became immersed in the jump-up drum and bass scene after discovering the genre through YouTube tutorials and SoundCloud at age 16. His production style specializes in jump-up and rollers substyles, establishing him as a prominent figure in the contemporary UK drum and bass landscape.
Bouguenna's breakthrough arrived in 2023 with the release of Closer featuring Manchester vocalist Slay on Island Records, which reached No. 24 on the UK Singles Chart. The track, created within forty minutes using FL Studio and sampling Robert Miles' Children, marked his major label debut and catalyzed significant industry attention. That same year, he released Baddadan with Chase & Status, featuring Flowdan, Irah, Trigga and Takura, which peaked at No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart. Earlier collaborative success includes his 2021 feature on Bru-C's Streetside (No. 84 UK), certified Gold by the BPI in May 2023, and a 2022 collaboration with Example on Deep featuring NonΓ΄, which later appeared on Example's album We May Grow Old But We Never Grow Up. Bouguenna has received four Drum and Bass Awards and achieved a Beatport No. 1 with Veteran VIP, while maintaining his independent Gossip label to release music and support emerging artists.
