Fledgling stars Fred Vahrman and Josh Jackson a.k.a Fred V & Grafix signed to Hospital at the end of 2011 and have been making waves ever since with regular appearances on BBC Radio 1Xtra and mini mixes on Annie Macâs show. A pair of producers who have been working together for the past five years now and showing huge promise, the boys brought us an abundance of musical gems before they delivered their debut EP on Hospital in March 2013.
Initially into live music, the pair converted to D+B when they heard Pendulumâs controversial and genre-changing album âHold Your Colourâ and High Contrastâs sophomore âHigh Societyâ. Influenced by an eclectic range of sounds outside of D+B, from electro/French house, ambient and hip hop, Fred V & Grafix cite artists such as Flying Lotus, Bonobo, Dilla and Jimi Hendrix as key inspirations, alongside fellow Hospital artists High Contrast and Logistics.
Having already released music on Allsorts and Talkin Beatz, and received Radio One support from Zane Lowe and Annie Mac, Fred V & Grafix made their first appearance on Hospital as part of the âFifteen Years Of Hospital Recordsâ album with âFind My Wayâ and have continued to take the label by storm. As well as producers within their own right, Fred V & Grafix have also stunned us with their remixes of Emeli Sande â âDaddyâ, Skepta â âHold Onâ, Camo & Krooked â âAll Fall Downâ and not forgetting their amazing remix of Rudimentalâs chart-topping No. 1 hit âFeel The Loveâ.
Since signing to Hospital, Fred V & Grafix impressed with their Sick Music 3 contribution âMajor Happyâ and the epic âPurple Gatesâ which appeared on Hospitality D&B 2013 before finally bringing us their debut solo release, the awe-inspiring âGoggles EPâ which dropped in March 2013. Later this year we look forward to the release of the debut album âRecogniseâ with the title track dropping 17th March.
March 2014 saw the long awaited release of their debut album âRecogniseâ which combines their love for live music, weighty sub bass and creative collaborations with newschool vocalists and producers. With prodigious song-writing, epic musicality and dancefloor sensibility, âRecogniseâ eschews the predictable structure of todays identikit D+B. Simultaneously intellectual and effortless, itâs a breath of fresh air that builds on the success of Fred V & Grafix previous releases and includes âMajor Happyâ and âWe Are 18â favourite âCatch My Breathâ. The second single from the album âForest Firesâ which features vocals from Med Schools very own Etherwood, was added to the BBC Radio One playlist ahead of its release cementing their cross over success. With plenty of festival appearances all over the world lined up through out the summer, donât miss out on this duos dancefloor smashing sets.
